Tony AppleyardTony joined the Office of the Auditor-General in 2014. His main responsibilities are local authorities and related entities in Wellington, Manawatu-Wanganui, Hawke's Bay, Nelson, Tasman, and Marlborough. He also has responsibility for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (‘EECA’), the Environmental Protection Authority (‘EPA’),  and the Electricity Authority.

Before joining the Office, Tony led the development of Building Act legislation at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

He has policy and regulatory experience in New Zealand and overseas, including at the Ministry for the Environment, the Local Government Association of Queensland, City of Cardiff Council, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in the United Kingdom.
