George Frederick Colin Campbell

1922-1937 Controller and Auditor-General. The fifth Auditor-General served as Controller and Auditor-General from 1922 to 1937.

George Campbell started his career in the Public Works department. From there, he worked in prominent roles in the Valuations and Tax departments.

Mr Campbell was a lieutenant in the Wellington Naval Artillery and an avid rugby player. He was president of the New Zealand Rugby Union for three years.

The CMG after his name denotes that George Campbell was a member of the Order of St Michael and St George.
